Selby Inlet, Prevost Island, B.C.
Miles Travelled: 25
The rest of our time in Silva Bay this morning was taken up with laundry, an attempt at showers for all 4 of us that ended up in just washing they boy’s hair in the sink since the shower NEVER got warm, yes we got our money back. We had wifi at the boat, but everything just ended up being so rushed that we never got any blog updating done.
We left the dock in time for lunch and then to put the boys down for their nap. We caught the ebb through Gabriola Pass and hit 9.5 kts! The rest of our trip down to Selby Cove wasn’t nearly that fast, but it was pretty (and) uneventful.
We are back in the land of shallow anchorages. We were near high tide when we anchored and were in 16 feet of water…we only had to put out 60 feet of chain. What a difference from up North where we were routinely putting out 175 feet.
Tomorrow we plan to cross back into Washington waters. We are sad that the trip is coming to an end, but happy to be heading back home to our families, our friends, our cats, our house and away from the changing weather. I think it’s going to take a while to synthesize our experiences into anything coherent, but suffice it to say…this has been an amazing summer. We are so happy we got to have this time together as a family.
