Port McNeill, B.C.
Miles Travelled: 29 miles
Port McNeill just keeps getting better and better! The showers are now FREE! They weren’t free in May, if I remember correctly they were a loonie ($1) for 3 minutes, but for some reason they are free now. It’s almost unheard of for free showers in a marina, and it is a huge deal for people like us. I’ll bet it helps keep transient boats coming to the Port facilities and not the private marina next door. They also offer free wifi at the dock...wonderful!
We like Port McNeill. This is the third time we’ve been here and it is really well set up for people to get things done on foot. We arrived at around 1:45, and by 4:15 we had laundry washed and dried, groceries purchased and back to the boat, moorage paid, ice cream consumed, and the boys had snacked and played in the grass. All that was left was to have dinner at a restaurant!
Our trip from Walker Island Group was FOGGY, but I got to test my radar skills and helped avoid a collision in the fog. Whew!
The last time we checked the weather it looked like we are going to have good travelling conditions for the next couple of days so we are going to take advantage of it and make tracks. We also have beneficial timing for tides and will be able to take advantage of a tidal push as we move on.
